Reverend Doctor William Howard Kooienga passed into the arms of his precious Savior on Thursday, July 12, 2018 in Ocean Springs, MS.
Reverend Kooienga was born July 15, 1936 in Grand Rapids, MI. He received his education from the Grand Rapids Christian Schools. He attended Michigan State University, graduated from Calvin College, and received his Masters and Doctorate from Westminster Seminary.
He faithfully served as a godly pastor in the Christian Reformed Church for 38 years. He served congregations in Clara City, MN; Patterson, NJ; Crown Point, IN; and Thunder Bay, ON Canada. After retirement he taught for the African Bible Colleges in Malawi and Uganda.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Marilyn; children and their spouses, David and Stephanie, Sarah and Duane, John and Tytti, Nathan and Nancy, and Dan and Darka; grandchildren, Alex, Emi, Peter, Anna, Rachel, and Hannah.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday July 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Biloxi with the Reverend Tim Horn officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs.
