Richard Aldo Garziano

Richard Aldo Garziano Sr., 69, of Henderson Point/Pass Christian, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, April 16th 2019, surrounded by his family. Richard leaves behind his loving wife of 39 years, Nancy Bowers Garziano, and his seven children; Dori, Nicholas, Richard Jr., Stanley, Stephanie, Teresa, and Christina. Richard is blessed with the legacy of nine grandchildren; Richard, Zane, Drew, Luca, Arabella, Samuel, Sonny, Nico, and Levi and he is also survived by his sister, Maureen Saucier. He is preceded in death by his mother Esther Cox Garziano and father Aldo Bresci Garziano. He is deeply missed by his family and friends. Born December 15th, 1949, Richard’s life was uniquely shaped by his loving mother, Esther, who devoted her life to her children. He was an observant child, who had a keen understanding of the world around him. At the age of 16, he found himself working on family owned shrimp boats, a labor that would transform him into the man that he was. Richard, locally known as “Garzi,” was a force to be reckoned with. From boxing trainer to master tradesman, he accomplished much in just 69 years. Richard’s physical and mental dexterity was valuable to friends and strangers alike. In his children’s eyes, there was nothing he could not do. Perhaps the most revered of his many skills, was his artistry of throwing the cast net, the means by which he fed his family. It was simply his thrill, and when the conditions were right, there he was, amongst the mullet. As a veteran hurricane survivor, he spent many years picking up the pieces and moving forward in times of adversity; much like the live oaks that sprawl across his very own land, his roots were firmly planted. He was a gifted storyteller who could captivate an audience with his rich knowledge of local lore that went hand and hand with his lessons learned through life experience. Inventive and resourceful, Richard always had an opportunity to let his talents and creativities shine. His distinct sense of humor sparked raucous laughter in all those around him. He will always be remembered. We love you Daddy. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Stroke Association. Visit strokeassociation.org for more information and awareness.
