Ronald "Ron" Walter Kappel

Ronald “Ron” Walter Kappel, born on April 1, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on December 3, 2017 at the age of 79 years. He was a resident of the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Gulfport, MS. Ron served 22 honorable years in the U.S. Air Force retiring as an E-7/Master Sergeant and Vietnam War Veteran. He had many jobs and careers, in and out of the military. He was a proud “Renaissance Man”. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do if he wanted to. Some of his more proud personal accomplishments were: he ran a marathon, he got a Par 3 hole-in-one, he achieved Bridge Life Master status and he spent over 10 years as a full-time RVer, travelling the continental U.S. all the way up to Alaska. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his son, Jack Kappel; his daughter, Lisa Breal; and his granddaughter, Lily Kostellic. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Humane Society of South MS, 2615 25th Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501. Visitation will be held at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home Friday, December 8, 2017 from 12:15 pm – 1:15 pm followed by a 1:30 pm graveside service at Biloxi National Cemetery.
