Roscoe "Ross" Wicks

Roscoe “Ross” Wicks, age 41, of Gulfport, Mississippi passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Ross was born on July 13, 1976, in Eugene, Oregon. He graduated from North Eugene High School. In 1994, at the age of 17, he was drafted by the New York Mets in the 28th round. In July 2003, Ross and Brandy married. Three amazing children followed. His two boys inherited his love of baseball, while his daughter found her love in dance. Ross loved watching his children’s baseball games and dance recitals. He also enjoyed introducing them to his love of the outdoors. Fishing was definitely a favorite activity. In 2009, Ross founded Fastball Dreams with the purpose of teaching players the tools to achieve their baseball goals by focusing on proper pitching, throwing and hitting mechanics. He had a unique gift to reach players on their level. He taught more than just baseball lessons, he taught life lessons. He crafted individual lessons for each player that addressed their particular needs and learning styles and incorporated the player’s interests into proper baseball techniques. Ross will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on through his children and each of his players. He was so very proud of all of them. Ross was preceded in death by his grandparents: Raymond Wicks, Lillian Wicks and Emma Olsen. He is survived by his wife, Brandy Wicks; children, Tristan Copley Wicks, Abigail Addison Wicks, and Tucker Matthew Wicks, of Gulfport, Mississippi; his parents, Raymond A. and Janna Wicks; brothers, Raymond F. Wicks and Steve Wicks; sister Lori (Darin) Chadwick, all of Eugene, Oregon; Mother-in-law, Rebecca Glass, of Gulfport, MS; Father-in-law, Delroy Ammermann of Houston, Texas; Sister-in-law, Tammy (Bill) Bruce, of Temecula, California; Brother-in-law, William (Mariah) Glass of Gulfport, Mississippi. He is also survived by 7 nephews and 4 nieces: Darien Wicks; Gehrig Wicks; Brooklynn Wicks, Ryan Chadwick; Austin Chadwick, and Ashley Chadwick, of Eugene, Oregon; Trey Bruce; Tanner Bruce, and Chloe Bruce, of Temecula, California; and Maylea Glass and Leland Glass, of Gulfport, Mississippi.
