Sally Joyce B. Dawson

Sally Joyce B. Dawson, 93, of D’Iberville, MS passed away Sunday, April 11, 2021 in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Dawson was born September 14, 1927 in Bendale, MS to Mary Florence Flurry and David Eli Berry. She graduated from Broome School in Bendale, MS where she was one of nine graduates. Mrs. Dawson received recognition for her exemplary performance and service in the food industry from 1965 until 1991. She was employed with the D’Iberville High School Cafeteria, Woolsworths and as a caretaker. Mrs. Dawson enjoyed cooking, sewing, basketball, softball and being a caretaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold W. Dawson; her parents; and her siblings, Vermelle Loper, Leola Byrd, Emma Wilson, Dorthy Flurry, Vivian Walker, Irvy Wilson, Pauline Fairley and Hubert Berry. Mrs. Dawson’s survivors include her children, James A. (Debra) Dawson and David W. (Doreen) Dawson; her grandchildren, Lauren Dawson, Jessica Dawson, Stephanie Dawson, Christina Dawson and Michelle Thomas; her great-grandchildren, Dominick Carter Thomas, Aleah Thomas, Adriana Thomas, Kyle Kay, Kristopher Kay and Siera Jones; numerous nieces and nephews; and her pet, Bella. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Saad Hospice, especially Betty and Haley for the wonderful care provided for Mrs. Dawson. Funeral Services will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Swetman Cemetery.
