Shirley Mae Gagliano, 83, of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, joined the angels on Sunday, September 17, 2017.
Shirley was born to the late George and Nancy Gingras in New Orleans on April 23, 1934. At age 14, she met Anthony J. Gagliano, Sr., whom she later married in 1952.
Shirley was a longtime resident of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She was blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She cherished them all and frequently told them, “You’d better be careful or I’m gonna love you forever!” Shirley’s family was everything to her, and she was a beacon of love for them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were among her greatest joys in life.
Shirley was known for her kindness, natural curiosity, and sharp sense of humor. Her laugh was sincere and infectious, and her smile filled a room with light. She was loved by all who knew her. Shirley was a devout Christian and follower of Jesus. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, but they take comfort in the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Anthony Joseph Gagliano, Sr.; her brother, Jimmy Gingras; her parents; and her beloved son, Anthony Joseph Gagliano, Jr.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Sandra Gagliano Carter; her son, John Gagliano; her sister, Darlene Wegmann; her six grandchildren, Mandy Beard, Brad Stennerson, Laci Gagliano, Lindsey Gagliano, Alex Gagliano, and Jamie Gagliano; and her three great-grandchildren, Cam Beard, Cooper Gagliano, and Noah Gagliano.
Services will be held at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs, on Thursday, September 21, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
