Tara Yvette Swope, 35, died Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in Vaiden, MS.
Born in Johnstown, PA, Tara attended Penn State University and graduated from Mississippi State University in 2005 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. She worked for six years as a combat systems engineer for the Navy at Ingall’s Shipyard. Recently, Tara found her passion as a math teacher at Coffeeville High School. She loved cartoons, the Steelers and her students; but, most of all she loved her family, especially her niece and nephew.
Tara is preceded in death by her nephew, Kye Mitchell and her grandfather.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Patty and Charles Yates; maternal grandmother, Janet Dickson; sister, Rana Mitchell; niece, Sophia Mitchell; stepsisters, Janell (Shane) Boyette and Tisha (David) Garcia; stepbrother, Charles (Stephanie) Yates, Jr.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in her name to the Home of Grace, 14200 Jericho Road, Vancleave, MS 39565.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit two hours prior. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
