Thomas “Tom” Raymond Butler, age 63, passed away on May 15, 2021, at home in Gulfport, MS, surrounded by his loving family.
Thomas was born at MacDill Air Force Base, September 1957. He joined the US Air Force in 1975 until he retired in 1994 at Keesler Air Force Base. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, TX. From there, he packed his family up and all moved to RAF Alconbury in England; then on to Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA. The final stop was Keesler AFB. He went on to work in civil service at Keesler AFB as computer administrator from 1995 until 2020. He loved his job and did it well. He was very fond of many of his co workers throughout the years. He made many, many friends during his time in the Air Force and Civil Service. He received many awards for his performance during his time there. He loved helping the neighbors with their yard work and whatever else they may need. He loved watching wrestling, college football and Nascar during his free time.
Tom was a loving father to two fantastic children. He loved his wife with all of his heart for forty-four and a half years.
He was preceded in death by his father Thomas J. Butler and his mother Patricia Smith.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Butler; two children Scotty Butler (Biloxi) and Juliana Butler (Gulfport); two granddaughters Amber and Lily Butler (Biloxi); five siblings Patrick Butler, Stephanie Butler (NC), Catherine Miller (GA), Timothy Butler (FL), Pamela Weaver (FL); and his very spoiled 4-legged kids and many nieces and nephews.
Thank you to the hospice team who worked quickly to attend to his needs. Our hearts are broken. We just lost a wonderful man to the horrors of cancer.
Visitation will be Friday, May 21, 2021, from 1-3 p.m. followed by military honors at 3 p.m. at the O’Neal Road location of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home.
