Mr. Vernon Leon Kent, age 85, of Biloxi, MS, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020, in Gulfport. He was born in Bloomington, Indiana and had been a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast since 1970. Mr. Kent retired from civil service at Keesler Air Force Base after 23 years of employment as an HVAC technician and electrician. He was a member of Cedar Lake Christian Assembly where he served as an usher and he cherished spending time with his wife, family and church family. He also enjoyed serving as Commander of the Royal Rangers.
Mr. Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Everett Kent and Hazel Marie Beamen Kent; a son, Richard Lee Kent; an infant sister and other siblings, Paul R. Kent, Norma J. Collins, Gail Russell, Harold L. Kent, Joseph E. Kent and LaVonna R. Kent.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Jean White Kent; daughter, Rebecca Joyce Kent; grandchildren, Benjamin Lee Kent and Stephen Lee Kent, and three great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his beloved four legged companion, Buddy.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Cedar Lake Christian Assembly where friends may visit one hour before service time. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, in Biloxi is in charge of services.
