Mrs. Verona "Nonie" Marion Fountain Mohler was born on November 7, 1929, and went to be with her Lord on July 8, 2017.
Nonie was born in Biloxi, MS and graduated from Biloxi High School. She moved to Ocean Springs when she married Robert Gerald Mohler, Sr. on August 15, 1953. They had 7 sons together and she reveled in being the life of the parties. She was a prolific story teller and had plenty of material after having 7 sons. Her first job was an elevator girl in the old Tivoli Hotel on Biloxi beach. After her marriage, she worked with Robert at the Spud-Nut Donut Shop that became the Tato-Nut Donut Shop. She also worked as a dental assistant to Dr. Pitalo, in Biloxi, and later as a glass cleaner at PFG Optics in Ocean Springs. Besides her jobs, she was kept busy as her family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her life revolved around her children, then her grandchildren and finally her great-grandchildren. She always kept up with anyone's activities and had a bright smile on her face for all the children. Nonie was a member and active, especially in her son's younger years, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She believed in the power of prayer and was a member of the Around the Clock Praying Team at St. Alphonsus for years with her time to pray from 8pm to 9pm in the chapel. Nonie was a maid in the Gulf Coast Carnival Association when she was young. Along with her sister, Shannon, they became members of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
