Mrs. Wilda Faye Catchot Mallett, age 82, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on February 16, 2021. Mrs. Mallett was born on December 3, 1938 to the late Lloyd Horace and Ida Mae Raley Catchot. She graduated from Ocean Spring High School where she served as a maid in the Homecoming Court. She also was member of the Rainbow Girls in Ocean Springs. Her Mother was a long-time active member and Matron of the East Stars. She was employed at E.R. Moore, Ocean Springs in the sewing Dept. and at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula in the Printing Department. She loved these two jobs and excelled at them. She was an excellent seamstress making clothes for all her children while they attended school. Her children being very dear in her life. Her crowning glory besides her children was being an outstanding southern cook. She made the best dishes and biscuits fresh every day for her family the majority of her life. She loved her extended family and would visit all of her relatives regularly in Ocean Springs on her Catchot side of her family and especially on her mother's side of the family in Biloxi, New Orleans and Knoxville. Her parents would take her to Mardi Gras in New Orleans on many occasions as a child and young adult. She stayed several summer months in New Orleans with a very close aunt, uncle and first cousin where she enjoyed shopping on Canal Street, riding the street cars, visiting the parks and having fun at Pontchartrain Beach. She enjoyed swimming in coast beaches with her family and picnics at Bluff Creek. She was a devoted member of St. Alphonsus and St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church all her life. She attended Mass and loved to receive Communion with Her Lord regularly. Mrs. Mallett is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Alan Ray Mallett, Sr.; brother, Lloyd Wayne Catchot; father-in-law, Ottman Ray Mallett; mother-in-law, Verilee Molly Mallett; and son-in-law, George Wayne Gaither. Survivors include her children, Darleen Renee Gaither, Teresa Faye Quave (Patrick), Ida Leah Snell (Rick) and Alan Ray Mallett, Jr.; 13 grandchildren, Jonathan Quave (Aren), Jeremy Quave, Kimberly Milner (Travis), Joshua Gaither, Aaron Gaither (Tiffany), Kristopher Woods (Chasity), K.C. Mallett, Cody Mallett, Kristy Creamer, Haylea Creamer, Chevy Ray Mallett, Ronnie Creamer and Tasha Parker (Jimmy); 15 great grandchildren; and sister, Rose Mary Catchot Horman; and brother-in-in law, Phillip Lee Mallett. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Porter Avenue in Ocean Springs at 10am. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior. Interment will follow in Mallett Cemetery. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Mallett family.
