William C. "W.C." Fowler

William C. “W.C.” Fowler, age 76, passed away on January 10, 2018. He was born to William C. and Annie B. Hottinger Fowler in Arkansas on July 5, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters: Bobbie Jones, Sue Fowler, and Stella Zielinski, and two brothers: J.B. and Paul Fowler. His survivors are his loving wife of 36 years, Jeanne; his children, Ida Fowler (Steven) Hammons, William "Bill" (Terri) Fowler III, and Jann Taylor Prescott; his grandchildren, Lauren, Erica, and Jeremy Hammons; and Taylor Prescott; and one great-grandchild, Talyah Hammons Hollis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. As a child, he moved to the Gulf Coast and graduated from Long Beach High School. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served 10 years. He was a proud member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, a lifetime member of Long Beach Carnival Association and was King Scott XXXI in 1991. He coached T-ball and minor league baseball in Long Beach. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion; the VFW; Shriner, Joppa Temple, and Mason, Orange Grove Lodge. After retiring from Plant Jack Watson, Ms. Power Company, he joined the Harrison County Tourism Board, LB Harbor Commission, and was instrumental in the creation of Cruisin’ the Coast as well as serving on the board. His hobbies included watching his beloved Ole Miss Rebels, NFL games, playing golf, playing cards with his Shriner buddies, and antique cars which was one of the main reasons he enjoyed Cruisin’ the Coast so much. The only thing more important to him than his country and his family was his faith in God. We will forever treasure the cherished memories of our time together and have faith that one day, there will be a blessed reunion. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following. Interment will be at Long Beach Cemetery on Girard Ave. In lieu of flowers, his wish was for donations to be made to Shriners’ Hospital for Children. Bradford-O’Keefe, 15th Street, Gulfport, MS is in charge of arrangements.
