Alexander Willard Steubing

Alexander “Alex” W. Steubing, beloved father, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away at his home in Long Beach, on Monday, May 26, 2025, at the age of 76.

Alex was born on December 7, 1948, in Ladenburg, Germany, to the late Alise Steubing Rogers and Williard E. Valentini. Spending his early years in Germany, Alex moved to the United States with his mother and stepfather. The only English he knew at the time was Coca Cola. He became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

Alex was an educated man who had a variety of interests including sports, traveling, and especially cars. His fascination with cars lasted for more than 30 years as it led him to become a salesman, finance manager, and general manager for several automobile dealerships in Atlanta, GA. Eventually, Alex moved to Long Beach where he would use his knowledge and skills to start his own dealership. Alex was involved in community organizations, most recently the Southern Star #500, Lodge of Masons, where he was a Shriner.

Having many achievements, Alex considered his greatest to be a father to his son, Alexander Neely Steubing, who he affectionately dubbed “Peanut” after seeing the second ultrasound. Alex truly loved watching Peanut grow and have success at his schools and with a variety of sports. Alex considered himself to be Peanut’s greatest fan.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather; and his sister, Leslee A. Valentini.

He is survived by his son, Alex “Peanut” Neely Steubing; his sister, Lynnett Valentini of Switzerland; and the love of his life, Doni Neely Steubing. He also leaves behind an aunt and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, 1726 15th Street, Gulfport. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Steubing family.
