August 9, 1937 — September 23, 2024

Ponce De Leon, FL

Alfred Dale Williams, age 87, from Long Beach, MS passed away in Ponce de Leon, Fl on Monday, September 23, 2024.

Mr. Williams was born in Steubenville, Ohio on August 9, 1937. After high school he served 3 years in the US Navy and then went on to serve in the US Army and retired in 1975 as Sgt First Class.

Mr. Williams traveled often while in the military, serving in Germany and Korea. He also lived in Maryland, Alabama, and then settled in Long Beach, MS. No matter where he lived, Al was an avid Ohio State Fan. He was an animal lover and had many dogs over the years that he was very attached to. Mr. Williams was very giving to strangers, even to a fault. His favorite discussions included sports and politics, and he was never wrong.

He had a passion for dancing. Al and his wife, Vergie danced often and were the center of attention on the dance floor. He loved Dancing with the Stars and did not miss an opportunity to see any of the DWTS shows.

Mr. Williams was preceded in death by the love of his life, Vergie Williams. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Scharla Beth Williams; his parents, Alfred T. Williams and Elizabeth S. Hall; brothers, Carl Williams and George Williams; and sister, Kathy Murphy.

He is survived by his children, Tim Williams, Tom (Lucille) Williams, Michelle (John) Vercher, and Steven (Heather) Langstaff. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Davin Henry, Dewayne Henry, Christian (Alicia) Henry, Desiree Rosonet, John A. (Tayler) Vercher, Danny Williams, Weigelia Thomas, EJ Langstaff, and Kaitlin Langstaff; as well as 12 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Williams’ children and grandchildren can learn one thing from his life; life is precious. “We all have two lives. The second one starts when we realize we only have one.” – Tom Hiddleston.

A private service will be held for immediate family. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport is honored to serve the Williams family.

Dad/Grandpa you will be forever in our hearts.
