Alice was born May 2, 1943 in Glendale, California and grew up in Burbank, California. She passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi at the age of 82.
Alice attended public schools in Burbank then attended three colleges in Los Angeles, earning her Bachelor’s Degree from UCLA in Music and English and later, a Master's Degree from USC.
She taught English in Los Angeles public schools and also taught college courses on other subjects. In the 1970s and 1980s, she had her own television show for 14 years. One of them was called “Let’s Rap with Alicia Sandoval.” She also helped broadcast for the Rose Parade in Pasadena. Proud of being a Hispanic-American she went by Alicia, the Spanish word for Alice, for a few decades before she later reverted back to using Alice. In 1984, Alice lost her job when Fox bought her television channel. After that, she moved to Virginia with a friend of hers, Renny Martin, and was the Director of Communications for the National Education Association (NEA). She later worked jobs in Washington, D.C. either as an employee or contractor. One of those jobs was with the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
In 2017, Alice wrote a novel titled The New Holy Warriors, which was set in the United States and Mexico. She also helped her friend, Renny, with her landscaping business where she was one of the officers of the company. After Renny passed away, Alice moved to Ocean Springs, Mississippi in 2018 to live with her sister, Dorothy and her brother-in law, John O'Dwyer. While there she helped take care of Dorothy who had Parkinson’s Disease. Though her sister passed away in 2020, Alice continued to live in the house until her passing. After her move to Mississippi, she began attending St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Crescent Sandoval and Lucy (Sauceda) Sandoval; and her sister, Dorothy O’Dwyer.
She is survived by her sister, Beatrice “Irene” Sandoval.
