Alma Lott Flick, Ph.D., age 72, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at her home in Ocean Springs, MS.
Dr. Flick was born in New Orleans, LA on September 30, 1943. After graduating from Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, she completed degrees in music therapy at Loyola University in New Orleans and in social work at the Barry School of Social Work in Miami, FL. She received her PhD in psychological arts from International College, Los Angeles, CA. She had a long and distinguished career as a psychologist and worked in private practice with husband, Grad.
One of the many joys in Dr. Flick’s life was serving as music director and organist at St. Michael Catholic Church in Biloxi, MS for a number of years. She also loved Renaissance music and enjoyed leading music groups dressed in period costumes for receptions and weddings throughout the Gulf Coast. She played soprano recorder and harpsichord in these performances.
Dr. Flick is preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Louise Lott; and her husband, Dr. Grad Flick.
Survivors include her son, Marcus W. Flick; her grandson, Jordan M. Flick; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Bob Thompson; her nieces, Mary Louise Hutchinson and Myrna Roberts; her nephew, Edwin Thompson; and her cousins.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church on Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit from 9:00 am until mass time. A reception will immediately follow at the St. Michael Family Life Center.
