Mrs. Althea J. Martino Burkle, age 90, of Biloxi, MS. died Friday, January 27, 2012, in Biloxi. Mrs. Burkle was born in Biloxi and was a longtime resident of the coast. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Catholic School in 1940 and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Lily Hightower Martino, five sisters and six brothers. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Henry J. Burkle, three daughters, Lowanna (Jimmy) Wallis of Biloxi, MS, Mary Rulo of Newnan, GA, and Margaret Ann (Michael) Kellicut of Tyrone, GA, three sisters, Mary Lou Loyzelle and Lillian Jordan, both of Biloxi, and Lillie Rose Seymour of D'Iberville, a brother, Donald Martino of Biloxi, four grandchildren, Michelle (Billy) Swanson of Woolmarket, Jamie (Cameron) Tindel of Gulfport, Douglas Boone and Grace Kellicut both of Tyrone, GA., and a great-grandchild, Jacob Swanson of Woolmarket. Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, from 10:30 am until 12 Noon, with a 12 Noon Mass of Christian Burial, all at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2090 Pass Rd., Biloxi, MS. 39531. Special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice, Felisia Bayless and Carol Dummars. Also, special thanks to Evelyn Taylor. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
