Gene was born on October 14, 1974 in Biloxi, MS. He was raised in Vancleave and was “all country”. Hunting and fishing were his passions. He loved the river and being on his houseboat where he spent most of his free time with his children and his friends. He enjoyed crawfish boils and gatherings with his neighbors at the river. He was a member of Ramsey Hills Baptist Church in Vancleave and he was a God fearing man. Gene was always willing to help anyone. He had a big heart and many will remember him with that big, beautiful smile. Gene was loved by all that knew him.
Gene will be joining in Heaven his MeeMaw, Olamp Landry; his two grandmas, Mary “Hazel” Landry and Mary “Emma” Tanner; his grandpa, James Tanner; his cousin, Paul Orry Galle; his brother-in-law, Randy Yarborough; and many aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his parents, Alva and Lynn Tanner; his children, Dustin Ray Tanner and Valerie Ashlyn Tanner; his sister, Amber Lynn Tanner; his grandma and grandpa, David L. and Madie Abner; his special uncle, Mike Abner; the mother of his children, Jennifer Tanner; his niece, Katelyn Yarborough; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
