Andrew Byrd

Andrew "Andy" "Bondi" "Byrd Man" "Tweety Bird" "Red Fish" Byrd, age 57, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Tuesday, May 03, 2022.

Andy was born in New Haven, CT. He grew up wild in the streets of Pascagoula, and he graduated from Pascagoula High School. He attended college at Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas. He finally settled down in Ocean Springs, MS. He worked at Ingalls Shipyard and was a member of the Ingalls Management Association.

Above all, he loved his children, Lauren and Jacob. His heart was big enough to warmly hold family and friends all over the country. Not as important, but still true, Andy loved beautiful women and Busch Lite, though only partook of the latter on Thursday through Saturday nights.

He worked tirelessly on the weekends cooking fish, french fries, sausage, and wings for any charitable event he would hear of. He didn't have to know you to help you.

Andy always had a big, dimpled smile and soft, sparkling eyes for everyone he met. He was the life of every party, and his dance moves were legendary. He cheered his Florida Gators and New Orleans Saints on loudly and with passion.

To put the finest point on it, Andy was love personified. He will be sadly missed. He was a great father who dearly loved his children. He was a devoted son and a brother who doted on his siblings. He was always the favorite uncle (funcle). When asked about love, he'd say, "it's just what we do, right?"

He was preceded in death by his fathers, Nolley Byrd Sr. and James Cerrone; and his eldest sister, Elizabeth King. He is survived by his two children, Lauren Elizabeth Byrd and Jacob Andrew Byrd; his mother, Fran Byrd; and his two siblings, Iris Baria and Nolley Byrd Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home, 911 Porter Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564. Friends may visit two hours prior. Interment will be at The Byrd Cemetery, 19701 Farm Road, Vancleave, MS 39565.
