Mrs. Ann Slayden Pringle of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024. Ann was born on October 19,1932, to Mr. and Mrs. Louie B. Slayden.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Kistner Pringle; her siblings, Caroline McCroskey and Louie B. Slayden, Jr. (Bubba); and by her son-in-law, Steve Brooks. Ann is survived by her children, Caroline Brooks, Charles Pringle, Jr. (Anne), and Rives Pringle (Shelley). In addition, her grandchildren survive her: Kendall Gregory (Anne), Charlie Pringle (Catherine), William Pringle (Peyton), Cecilia Coulter (Jake), Caroline Johns (Michael) and Elizabeth Pringle; and her great grandchildren: Charlotte, Margaret, and Cecilia Gregory.
Ann graduated from Holly Springs High School in 1954. She then enrolled at the University of Mississippi. At Ole Miss, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. After graduation, she married Charles Kistner Pringle. They were happily married for sixty-eight years before his death. Ann was a teacher in the Biloxi Public School System, teaching in the business department at Biloxi High School. Later in life, she served as a member of the Biloxi Public Schools District School Board.
Involved in her community, Ann was a charter member of the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Junior Auxiliary, a service organization. For sixty years, she was a member of the Biloxi Garden Club. She also belonged to the Tri Delta Gulf Coast Alumnae Association. A member of Les Masquees, the oldest women’s carnival krewe on the Gulf Coast, she was also queen of Mithras, the oldest men’s carnival association on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
An avid tennis player, Ann also loved playing bridge, traveling, tailgating in the grove, and participating in her family’s beach trips. She belonged to a supper club for over fifty years and loved entertaining with her friends.
Mrs. Pringle treasured her First Presbyterian Church where she was a member for many years. In lieu of flowers of flowers, donations may be made in Ann’s memory to First Presbyterian Church of Biloxi or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Biloxi on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit one hour prior. Interment will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.
