Anna DeBoard Kirby passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025 at the age of 98 in Gulfport, MS. She was born on April 15th, 1927 in Tazewell, Virginia to the late Mittie (Gore) and John DeBoard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred Kirby; a grandson, Ryan Kirby; a great grandson, Seth Kirby; and a son in law, Robert Kennedy. The last living of 12 DeBoard siblings she was also preceded in death by brothers, Marvin, Arthur, James (Pappy), Fitzhugh and Glenn (Shorty); and sisters, Trevel DeBoard, Oria McGinnis, Minnie Bird, Racheal Lawson, Laura White and Helen Meier.
Annie is survived by her children, Julie Kennedy, Frank (Kay) Kirby and Pam (Larry) Matney all of Ocean Springs, MS; 5 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 8 great, great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Living a large portion of her life in central Ohio, she remained an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan! In 1979 she and her husband moved to Ocean Springs to be near their children. She was a long-time door greeter at Ocean Springs Wal Mart as well as a volunteer at Ocean Springs Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to April Hudson and Miss Tina at her personal care home as well as all at St. Joseph’s Hospice, for the loving care and support provided to Mom during this most difficult time.
A graveside service will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Biloxi National Cemetery.
