Annie E. Young

Annie E. Young, age 89, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 in Gulfport. She was born in Long Beach and was a lifelong resident of the Coast. She was a member of Divine Grace Baptist Church in Pass Christian and was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary in Long Beach. She was a longtime manager of Albright and Wood Drug Store in downtown Gulfport and retired from Quarles Elementary School in Long Beach. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Henry D. Young; a daughter, Charlotte “Dean” McCarty; her mother and father, Rube and Fannie Salters; two sisters; and a brother. She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Hiott, Sheila Fain, and Sherry Young; a daughter/granddaughter, Tonya Young; a sister, Dorothy Allen; a lifetime best friend, Ray Messick; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. The funeral service is Monday, January 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 15th Street, Gulfport where friends may visit beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens, Long Beach.
