Mr. Anthony Gerard Skrmetti, age 63, of Biloxi passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Skrmetti was a native resident of the MS Gulf Coast. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a lifelong member of Blessed Seelos Catholic Church. He was a self-employed contractor and former shrimper. He had a passion for the water and was proud to call the Gulf Coast his home. He was a gentle hearted, humble man, who in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, drove his old pick up truck into some of the poorest neighborhoods of his hometown to distribute relief supplies on his own.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas J. Skrmetti, Sr and Ursula Simmons Skrmetti; and brother, Gregory Skrmetti, Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Brenda Skrmetti; daughter, Amy Alexander; step-daughters, Michelle (Waylon) Taylor and Kari (Justin) Welch; step-son, Blake Pyron; brothers, Thomas (Susan) Skrmetti, Jr, Michael (Patty) Skrmetti, Peter (Jean) Skrmetti, Joseph (Denise) Skrmetti and John Patrick (Lehwmon) Skrmetti; and 11 grandchildren, Alexis, Jacob, Arielle, Hayden, Haiven, Hensley, Huntley, Austin, Aubree, Noah and Aiden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Seelos Catholic Church at 1pm on Friday, April 15, 2016. Family and friends are invited to visit from 11-1pm. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
