Anthony “Yank” Loren Ladnier, age 78, passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021 peacefully and comfortably at his home in Ocean Springs, MS.
Anthony was born on February 26, 1943 in Pascagoula, MS. He attended Pascagoula High School, served in the U.S. Navy from 1964 until 1968, where he served on the USS Bainbridge, and worked at the shipyard in Pascagoula. He has traveled around the world and has been at 0:0 latitude longitude.
Anthony loved shrimp boats, water, fishing, hunting deer out the bathroom window of his home, playing bingo at VFW 2132, Gautier, where he was a lifetime member, playing slot machines at local casinos, and, above all, chasing good-looking women!
Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Lola Burroughs Ladnier and Frank James Ladnier; and two brothers, Robert “Bobby” James Ladnier and Howard Elwood Ladnier.
Survivors include his children, loving and devoted daughter, Brenda “Lori” (Bob) Ladnier, who took exceptional care of Anthony and was there through his illness, Kathy (Zack) Funk, and James (Debbie) Anglin; his one and only sister, Ann (Joe) Franklin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family; his very special friend, Perry Meyers; and his beloved dachshund, Bear, who was his best friend and was waiting for him in Heaven.
Pallbearers include: Bob Hoefler, Eugene Ladnier, Perry Meyers, Joe Young, Jimmy Morton, and Jim McKinney. Honorary pallbearers include: Joe Franklin, Kenny Ladnier, and Roland “Ugly” Brown.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Bob Hoefler, Brenda Ladnier, Tracy Ladnier, and Liz with Kare-In-Home for helping get dad home where he wanted to be the most! Also, a special thanks to the VFW 2132 for all the love, laughs, and friendships over the years.
The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Leslie “grandmaw” who took care of “papaw” and made his day. She treated him extra special with lots of love and affection and gave him extra attention while he was in the hospital.

A service will be held at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home. Friends may visit from 12 noon until service time. Interment will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery. Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the Ladnier family.
