Archa Smith Jordan

Archa Smith Jordan of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022 in El Cajon, CA at the age of 105.

Mrs. Jordan was born in Picayune, MS on January 28, 1917 to Archibald A. and Stella Smith. She was a high school graduate and attended MSCW for one year. Mrs. Jordan was a member of DAR, OES and the Women’s Club of Ocean Springs. Some of her jobs included working as a clerk for Keesler Air Force Base, as well as a bookkeeper at Small Business Admin in Washington, DC. Mrs. Jordan enjoyed gardening. She was a great cook and she loved to entertain and host bridge parties. Mrs. Jordan was a beloved member of First Baptist Church of Biloxi, where she was very active and will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max H. Jordan, Sr.; her parents, A. A. and Stella Smith; and her sisters, Louise and Lucile.

Mrs. Jordan’s survivors include her children, Max H. Jordan, Jr. and Marcella James; her grandchildren, John, Kevin and Michael; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to LaVida Real and her private caregivers, Lani Policarpio, Marissa Suarez and Melanie Garcia for their loving care.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to First Baptist Church of Biloxi, Parkway Baptist Church or USM Jordan Family Scholarship Fund.

Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Biloxi on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00 am. Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will follow at Southern Memorial Park.
