Arthur “Al” Allen, Jr., age 85, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026. Born on February 7, 1940, in Pascagoula, MS, he was the second eldest of four boys. Al graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1958, later received his B.S. degree at Mississippi State University, where he graduated in 1962. While at MSU, he met the love of his life, Ann Cox Allen, at neighboring MUW in Columbus. They married in October 1962 and eventually settled in Ocean Springs, where they raised two sons and embraced a vibrant community life on the coast.
Al began his professional career as a CPA with Ernst and Ernst in Jackson. In 1967, he moved to Ocean Springs to serve as Comptroller of Blossman Gas, Inc. As an officer within the company’s leadership, Al played a crucial role in building The Blossman Companies into the successful corporation it is today. He retired as Senior Vice President in 2014, then enjoyed his most cherished role—devoting time to his family, home, and travels. Al served on various boards within the LP Gas industry and was a member of the MS Gulf Coast EMS board, as well as a member of board of directors for Amserv Ambulance Services on the Gulf Coast.
Raised on the Gulf coast, Al took great pleasure in boating, water skiing, island trips, fishing, and backyard swimming with his grandkids. He loved taking his sons to MS State football games as well as cheering on the New Orleans Saints. In the 1970s, he developed a passion for snow skiing and became an enthusiastic skier throughout the years. Whether it was a fishing rodeo, Treasure Oak Country Club event, fish fry or just cooking out with friends, Al was a friend to all he met.
Al lived out his Christian faith with a servant’s heart, serving in leadership roles at Presbyterian Churches in Ocean Springs and Pascagoula. He served multiple terms as elder and deacon and instilled a love for Jesus Christ in his children and grandchildren. His family was his greatest treasure.
Al was active in several different carnival organizations along the coast, and along with his wife Ann, enjoyed attending multiple events each carnival season. He was involved in the Ocean Springs Jaycees and served as a member of the Lion’s Club and the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce.
Al is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Allen; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur Allen, Sr.; in-laws, Dr. & Mrs. Sam Cox; brother, Ralph Allen; and daughter-in-law, Kris Allen. He is survived by his devoted sons, David Allen and Mike (Lidia) Allen; four grandchildren, Kelsey (Jonathan) Ladnier, Sam Allen, Callie (Allen) Hornbuckle, and Erin (Dave) Neville; four great-grandchildren, Liam Ladnier, Charlie Hornbuckle, Rose Hornbuckle, and Tessa Hornbuckle; two brothers, Dixon “Dick” Allen and William “Bill” Allen; and several extended family members and friends.
