Audrey Weems Griffin, age 89, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018 in Vancleave.
Audrey was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was everything to her. She never once was too busy to give her love and support to family or friends. Audrey was an extremely hard worker. As a homemaker, her whole life was devoted to God and family. Despite the many ups and downs she experienced in her life, she never complained; for her love and faith was her driving force. She always said if she ever had to do it over she would never change the way she approached life. She was also Mrs. Audrey to everyone in the community, no one ever left Mrs. Audrey's without something to eat or drink. To her, all children were special- not just her own. As she reached the later years of life and a lot of her friends and family passed, they always remained special in her heart. To sum it up, our mother was a special blessing that very few have had the privilege to receive.
Audrey is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Buck Griffin; her parents, Pauline and Clement Weems; her sisters, Thelma and Elvera Weems, Ola Kelly, and Verna Mae Cook; and her brothers, Eric and Clement Weems, Jr.
Survivors include her two children, Dianne Guzzetti, of Greensboro, and Billy (Suzanne) Griffin, of Vancleave; her beloved grandchildren, Deonna (Craig) Faucett, of Greensboro, and Trey and Benjamin Griffin, of Vancleave; her two special great-grandchildren, Jacob and Avery Faucett, of Greensboro; her brother, Jerry Weems; her special niece, Darlene (Charles) Atkinson, of Vancleave; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Also, we, the family would like to extend a special thanks to all the hospice nurses and support staff for the loving care they gave to our mother; and last, but not least, to all the wonderful love and care she received at the Bobbie Ferguson Home. Mom and us love ya Barbara, Linda, Gloria, Bobbie and Ted. You will always be like our family and we will never forget what you did for us.
