Barbra Pollard Allred

Barbra Helen Allred, 74 of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

She was born on July 27, 1952 in Rector, AR to Homer Sylvester Pollard and Ethel Ana Mae Pollard. Barbra served eight years in the United States Air Force as an inventory management specialist and a student training advisor at Keesler Air force Base. She used her VA benefits to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Education degree with highest honors from the University of South Mississippi. She worked at St. Martin Middle School as a remedial reading teacher. She was employed as the Director of Education at Sylvan Learning Center for two years. Her last job before “quit-tiring” was the Church Secretary at Belle Fountain Baptist Church where she was also a member. She was baptized in a river in Arkansas.

Barbra enjoyed going on cruises; traveling to almost every state in the country, Mexico, and Canada, hiking in the National/ State parks or any place in nature with animals, eating ice cream anywhere, and visiting family and friends. Her favorite Zen place was her blueberry garden of fifty-five plants where she picked blueberries and prayed in the hot South Mississippi sun for hours on end. She served as Sunday School teacher and Director at Belle Fountain Baptist Church, where she loved her church family and especially her students.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; Curtis and Burley Ray Pollard; and sisters, Gwen Smallmon and Bonnie Crittinden.

Barbra is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-two years, Jerry Allred; brother, James Pollard; and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Sue’s Home, 7400 Fountainbleau Rd., Ocean Springs, MS 39564.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at the Biloxi National Cemetery.
