Barbara Herrin, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on May 2, 1946, in Saucier, Mississippi, Barbara lived a life rooted in love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Herrin; her parents, Merle and Louis Simmons; her in-laws, Myrtle and Reginald Herrin; her brother, Tim Simmons; her nephews, Shane Simmons and Jason Simmons; and her brothers-in-law, Les Montgomery, James Parker, and Steve Daniels.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love through her devoted children: daughter Cheryl Houghton (Ron) and son Todd Herrin (Karen). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Megan Houghton-Meyer (Rob), Courtney Daigre (Mark), Josh Herrin (Haley), and Ashton Eubanks (Tyler). Her greatest joy was being “Nanny” to her treasured great-grandsons: Tucker, Trevor, and Taysom Daigre; Andrew, Austin, and Axel Herrin; and Briggs Eubanks.
She is also survived by her dear sisters: Debbie Montgomery, Sandra Parker, and Martha Rogers (Ronnie); and her brothers: Shine Simmons (Cindy), Scott Simmons (Ruby), and Pete Simmons (Freda). Barbara held a special place in her heart for her many nieces and nephews, loving each one as if they were her own.
Barbara will be remembered for her warmth, her sharp wit, her unwavering strength, and her ability to make everyone feel like family. She was the heart of her home and the anchor of her family. Her presence was a blessing, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.

There will be a graveside service on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Finley Cemetery.
