Barbara "Jan" Johnston

Mrs. Barbara "Jan" Johnston, age 76, of Ocean Springs, MS., died on Friday, April 22, 2011, in Ocean Springs. Mrs. Johnston was born in Fort Worth, TX. She lived most of her life in Jackson, MS., with her latter years in Columbus, MS., and was a resident of the coast since 1987. She was formerly employed with the Lowndes County Sheriffs' Department in Columbus, MS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rupert Marvin Thompson and Lily Dell Thompson. Survivors include her husband of 58 1/2 years, James Johnston, two sons, Keith Alan Johnston and Marvin Brian Johnston, a daughter, Rebecca Cope, three grandchildren, Daniel Jackson, Christopher Johnston, and Rachel Johnston, and a great-grandchild, Victoria Gabrielle. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, from 10 am until 11:30 am, with an 11:30 am chapel service, all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home.
