Retired MSGT Benny Lynn Stansbury Sr.

March 13, 1941 — March 15, 2026

Biloxi, MS

Retired MSGT Benny Lynn Stansbury, Sr., 85, of Biloxi, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, early Sunday morning, March 15, 2026.

Benny was born on March 13, 1941, to Clyde and Dorothy Stansbury, and graduated from Morgan City High School in Morgan City, Louisiana. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, and earned numerous honors, including the Air Force Commendation Medal with two devices, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Small Arms Marksmanship Ribbon.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, he returned to the Polynesian Restaurant in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he had worked as a waiter in his younger years, this time serving as general manager. For many years, he dedicated his time as a volunteer with the Red Cross in Biloxi and also served as a volunteer firefighter in Goudeau, Louisiana.

In his later years, he worked as a bagger at the commissary, where he often joked, “It’s like I’m getting paid to exercise,” reflecting his positive spirit and his refusal to sit idle and let life pass him by.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Horace Stansbury, Sr. and Dorothy Kristicevich Stansbury; and his brother, Mike Stansbury.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Garlan Ann Stansbury; his sons, Benny Stansbury, Jr. (wife, Penny) and Greg Stansbury (wife, Kelly); and his daughter, Rhonda Lynne Lindsay (husband, Robby). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christopher (wife, Kristina), Garrett (wife, Ryleigh), Emily, Tanner, Stephen (wife, Carmen), Gabriella, Caelin, Ian, Morgan (husband, Nathaniel), and Aidan; his great-grandchildren, Jack, Ari, and Finn; and his siblings, Ronnie (wife, Cheryl), Kathy Moy, Cindy Stansbury, and Clyde Stansbury, Jr. (wife, Carolyn).
