Bertha Segura Booth

Bertha Segura Booth, a beloved long-time resident of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 4, 1940, in Mexico, to Pedro Segura and Soledad Torres.

Bertha dedicated her life to caring for others. Despite having minimal formal education, she built a distinguished career as a nursing assistant at the VA Medical Center, serving the armed forces community for over 35 years. Her commitment and compassion earned her numerous honors and accolades throughout her life of service.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and actively participated in her community as long as her health allowed. Family was central to Bertha’s life. Though she never had children of her own, she cherished her relationships with her siblings, nieces, nephews, neighbors, friends, and especially the many children who came into her life. Her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit touched all who knew her.

Bertha was known for her unique wit and sense of humor. She loved a good laugh and could always find humor in any situation, even during times of declining health. She found great joy in hosting and attending gatherings of family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley T. Booth; her mother, Soledad Torres; her father, Pedro Segura; her sisters, Ofelia and Evangelina Segura; and her brothers, Adan and Jacinto Segura.

Bertha is survived by her brothers Serafin, Justo, and Elias Segura; a host of loving nieces and nephews; her dearest friend, Bonnie Stewart; and many other relatives and friends.

A public visitation will be held at Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs at 10:30 AM, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 noon and a procession to D'Iberville Memorial Park.

Bertha will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
