Mrs. Billie Ruth Butler, age 82, of Gulfport passed away on Monday, May 7, 2012, after a long illness. She was born in Jackson, Miss on August 28, 1929.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter b. Butler, Jr.; her parents, John C. Bishop and Minnie Bell Bishop; a sister, Annie C. Rush, and son-in-law, Robert Edgerly.
She is survived by two daughters, Ginger Edgerly and Dale (Tony) Blackwell; a son, Ronald Butler, Sr. (Cynthia); eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Rhonda, Brett, John, Jennifer,
Rondal, Jr. Justin and Josh; and nine great grandchildren, Erin, Emma, Caden, Nathan,
Truitt, Christopher, Ellis, Hailey and Luke.
Billie who led a long and fulfilling life, supported her husband as a military wife and as a mother to their children until his retirement on the Mississippi Gulf coast. She enjoyed attending Gateway United Methodist Church until her health declined.
Billie’s family would like thank the staff of Keesler Medical Center, Lakeview Nursing Home, St. Joseph Hospice, and especially April’s Place for the loving care during our mother’s illness.
In lieu of floral tributes, Billie requested memorial donations to the Harrison county Humane Society, 2615 25th Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501.
A graveside service will be held at Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 12:30 P.M.
