Mr. Billie J. "B.J." Clements, age 83, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016, at home with his loving wife and daughter by his side. B.J. was born in Durham, NC and graduated from Bragtown High School. B.J. joined the U. S. Air Force when he was 17 years old. He was in the 2052 Communications Squadron for most of his career. He served in Vietnam from 1967 - 1968 and was awarded the Bronze Star for his meritorious service in Vietnam. He also received many accolades for his outstanding performance while in the military and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant after serving his country for over 20 years. After retiring from the Air Force he was employed with the Biloxi V A Medical Center for 22 years. While working at the V A he received many awards for his superior performance as an engineering supervisor. B.J. also received awards for his outstanding contributions to the quality of life in his community from the City of Biloxi. He was a Mason and member of the Joppa Shriners in Biloxi where he served as a member of the Director's Committee.
B.J. was preceded in death by his beloved son, Dennis Craig Clements; his brother, Tim Clements; step-brother, Danny Beverly; step-father, Bill Beverly and his mother, Lillian Beverly. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Alice Clements; daughter, Cindy Clements; brother, Richard (Latrelle) Clements; step-brother, Dwight (Mary) Beverly;and nephews, Jeffery Clements, Tim Junior Clements and Tony Clements.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Joppa Shrine Center, 13280 Hwy. 67, Biloxi, MS 39532.
Visitation is Thursday, February 11, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, 2511 Pass Road, in Biloxi. Funeral service is 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.
