Buster Charles Taylor, age 95, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in Gautier, MS, with his wife and stepson at his side.
Mr. Taylor was born in Newport Beach, CA, on November 21, 1929. He graduated from Pierce Junior College in Los Angeles with an AA degree. Mr. Taylor proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1955 and was a Korean War veteran. In 1960, Mr. Taylor began working for Litton Data Systems, where he rose to become the General Manager of the Engineering facility in Pascagoula, MS, retiring in 1994. During his career with Litton, he traveled to Europe more than 80 times and also visited South Korea and Saudi Arabia.
Mr. Taylor was an active member of the American Legion and the Sons of the American Revolution. A passionate bridge player, he achieved the level of Bronze Life Master. His other great love was genealogy; after numerous DNA tests and countless hours of research, he was able to trace his family lineage back many generations, a feat he found deeply rewarding.
He especially loved his grandsons, attending every possible sporting event to cheer them on. Even into his 94th year, he was still climbing those bleachers. His daughter, Marlene, was the light of his life, and he took great pride in caring for her.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ethel (Haigh) Taylor; his daughter, Charlene Taylor; and his brothers, Ronald Taylor and Gilbert Leslie Taylor.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his loving wife, Diana Jane Gregory; his daughter, Marlene Jane Taylor; his stepdaughter, Stephanie Gregory (Tim) Bradley; his stepson, Maurice (Angee) Gregory Jr.; his grandsons, Tanner Bradley, Peyton (Emily) Miller and Maurice Gregory III; and his sister, Bernice (Gary) Dufield. He is also survived by numerous extended family members, both foreign and domestic, who were always welcome in his home.
A private family burial will take place at a later date.
Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Buster Charles Taylor.
