Candace L. Smith

Candace L. Smith, 79, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Gulfport.

Candace was born June 16, 1947, at County Hospital in Poplarville, MS. She had been a resident of Gulfport since 1969. She is a graduate of Gulfport High School and the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor's degree in French and English. She taught school for eleven years and worked for eleven years in civil service, most recently at the Biloxi VA Medical Center.

Candace was a member of O’Neal Road Church of Christ in Gulfport where she was active in Sunday school and the ladies’ bible study. In her later years she was a member in good standing of the Fleur de Lis Society in Biloxi.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace D. Smith of Gulfport. There are no survivors.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the O’Neal Road location of Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Smith Family Cemetery in Pearl River County, MS.
