Charles R. Gill Sr.

Charles R. Gill Sr., 87, of Biloxi, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026. He was born on November 29, 1938, in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he was born and raised and remained deeply connected to his community throughout his life.

Charles attended Biloxi High School and Perkinston College. He proudly served six years in the Mississippi National Guard. He went on to dedicate 39 years of service to the United States Postal Service. During his years as a postal employee, Charles was a proud member of the Letter Carriers Union and was also a member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #606.

Charles had a deep love for the outdoors and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed shrimping, fishing, and oystering. These were more than hobbies to him—they were a way of life and a source of many cherished memories with family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Zenobia Gill; his beloved wife, JoAnn T. Gill; his son, Frank; and his siblings, Floyd “Bootsie” Gill, Joseph “Irvin” Gill, Paul “Vernon” Gill, John “Cot” Gill, Arthur “Bubba” Gill, and sister Zenobia Faul.

He is survived by his children, Jane (Norbert) Lloyd, Jody Ault, and Robert (Danielle) Gill; his siblings, Jerald “Jerry” Gill and Rusty (Debbie) Gill; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Charles will be remembered for his love of family, his dedication to his work and community, and his lifelong connection to the Gulf Coast and the outdoors. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the generations of family he leaves behind.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Bradford O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Ave. Biloxi Mississippi, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Biloxi City Cemetery.

Charles R. Gill Sr. will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
