Charles E. "Buddy" Johnson

On Sunday, April 17, 2016, U.S.C.G. Captain Charles E. “Buddy” Johnson, age 57, went home to be with his heavenly father after a lengthy illness. Mr. Johnson was a resident of Lumberton, MS. He worked as a United States Coast Guard Certified Captain in the offshore industry for 30 plus years until he was forced to retire due to his illness. Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his son, Charles E Johnson Orr; mother, Mary Garrick; father, Aden Bellew; sisters, Virginia Orr and Edna Orr; and brothers, Clarence Johnson and Cecil Cowden. Survivors include his loving wife of 21 years, Deborah Johnson; sons, Clifton (Amanda), Christopher (Michell), Dale (Dawn), Levi (Courtney) Cartier, Marleigh, and Adam (Sandra); 15 grandchildren, expecting one Lil Angel in December; sisters, Shirley Rushing and Dorothy Collier; and many other family and friends. Services will be held at New Fayard United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
