Cheryl was born on November 3, 1955, in Houma, Louisiana, to LeRoy and Jeanette Glynn. She was raised in Houma alongside her four brothers, where she developed a love for crawfish boils and celebrating Mardi Gras with family and friends. From March 1978 to September 1983, Cheryl proudly served in the United States Air Force. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Northeast Louisiana University.
Cheryl managed one of the highest-grossing Au Bon Pain restaurant locations on Washington Avenue in Washington, D.C., where she met the love of her life, Ray Dutton. The two were married in Virginia on October 21, 1989. Their daughter, Mary, was born in March 1990, followed by their son, Scott, in October 1991.
Family was at the heart of Cheryl’s life, and she absolutely adored her grandchildren. Her home was always filled with animals, reflecting her love for them. She enjoyed writing, cooking, and spending time outdoors. Throughout her life, Cheryl built lasting, meaningful friendships and was known for the warmth and affection she shared with everyone she encountered. She had a special way of making people feel loved, often greeting someone with a hug and a kiss on the forehead shortly after meeting them. Some of her happiest years were spent living near the beach in Gulfport, Mississippi, with Ray by her side.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray Dutton; her brothers, Clark Glynn and Robert Glynn; and her parents, LeRoy and Jeanette Glynn.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Mary Dutton; her son, Scott Dutton (Nikki); her five grandchildren, Asher, Ember, Chaseton, Skyelit, and Beckham; and her brothers, Harry Glynn and Stuart Glynn.
