Cheryl Bertacci Nehlig

Cheryl Bertacci Nehlig, 63, passed away on Wednesday, February 17th 2016. Cheryl was born in New Orleans on October 16, 1952. She was Catholic and long-time resident of D’Iberville, Mississippi. She retired from D’Iberville Middle School after sixteen years of teaching Special Education. Her driving passion was her many students. Cheryl was a devoted military spouse who lived in numerous countries in support of her husband’s career. As a talented seamstress she designed and sewed many highly complex competition and wedding dresses for her nieces and friends. She was a life time Alumnus of The University of Southern Mississippi and member of the honor society of Phi Kappa Phi. Cheryl was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles and Clara Bertacci. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Carl O. Nehlig; her three children, Terrance J. Nehlig, Joshua A. Nehlig (Stacie), Brandy C. Nehlig. She is also survived by her two sisters, Catherine Bertacci Forsythe (Eric) and Charlene Bertacci; brother, Christopher Bertacci (Angelic); godchild, Dawn Forsythe; godmother, Joan Hoffman; and the sparkle in her eyes--- her three lovely granddaughters Abby, Sophie, and Olivia Nehlig. The visitation and service for Cheryl will be on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, 675 Howard Ave, Biloxi, MS, family from 12:00-12:30pm and friends 12:30-1:30pm. Service will be at 1:30pm followed by her burial at the Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS. Also, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Biloxi Lions (Eye Sight Fund), P.O. Box 196, Biloxi, MS 39533. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Cheryl at the Biloxi Yacht Club after her burial.
