Christal (Chrissy) Spencer Dessommes, age 64, of Gulfport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 22, 2025.
Born on January 5, 1961, Chrissy was a vibrant and unforgettable presence in the lives of all who knew her. From a young age, Christal displayed an extraordinary spirit, shining as an award-winning gymnast in her childhood. Later in life, she found immense joy and peace pouring her heart into gardening, cultivating beauty just as she cultivated connections with everyone she met. Her career as a secretary and caretaker reflected her innate desire to help and serve others, a quality that defined her interactions with the world.
Chrissy was truly one of a kind—quirky, eccentric, and entirely her own. She never met a stranger, engaging effortlessly with everyone from all walks of life. Her infectious laughter and captivating stories were a gift to those around her. She was renowned for her boundless generosity, always ready to lend a helping hand, even to those she didn't know. Chrissy’s greatest joy came from giving love, and her capacity for compassion was limitless.
Chrissy was immensely proud of the home and family she built, a testament to her dedication as a mother, wife, and a woman of many talents. She embraced every role with enthusiasm, from carpenter to botanist, always striving to be her best.
Christal is survived by her loving husband, Baxter Dessommes; her beloved mother, Mary Spencer; her devoted daughter, Shelby Dessommes; supportive cousins, Miles Hester, and Mason Hester; her cherished grand-cat, Pinky; and grand-dog, Baby. She is reunited with her father, John Spencer; her aunt, Deborah Hester; cousin, Micah Hester; and her grandparents, Ralph Rishel and Mary Rishel.
Every moment spent with Christal was a treasured memory, filled with her unique charm and unwavering warmth. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her friendly nature, playful spirit, and the immense love she shared so freely.
A Celebration of Life for Chrissy will be held on Thursday, July 10th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Long Beach Community Church, 186 E Old Pass Road, Long Beach, MS 39560.
