Mobile, AL

Christopher Byron Welch, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the age of 47.

Chris had a big heart and a personality that was impossible to ignore. He was lovable, loud, and full of humor, with a soft side that those closest to him knew so well. He had a way of making his presence known, bringing laughter and conversation wherever he went. Chris could talk to just about anyone, and his ability to connect with people was one of the many things that made him special.

Chris had a deep appreciation for the things he loved. He was a passionate New Orleans Saints football fan, enjoyed music and good food, and had a creative side that shone through his love of drawing and art. Whether he was talking football, sharing a laugh, listening to music, or putting pencil to paper, Chris found joy in the things that made him who he was.

Chris will be remembered for his big heart, his humor, and the love he had to give. He was a unique combination of bold and tenderhearted, someone who could be the loudest in the room while also having a soft spot for the people and things he cared about. These are the qualities his family and friends will carry with them, along with the countless memories that will continue to bring smiles even through the sadness of missing him.

Chris is survived by his parents, Lolita Welch and Ken Welch; his sisters, Lynsey Welch Hatch (Neal Hatch) and Elizabeth Welch Farrell (Patrick Farrell); and his two nieces and three nephews, who will forever hold a place for their uncle in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Michael; his paternal grandparents, John and Pat Welch; and his maternal grandparents, Harry and Lolette Wittmann.

Though Chris will be deeply missed, the love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the memories he created will remain with those who knew him. His life leaves a lasting imprint on the people who loved him, and he will be remembered always.

The family will gather privately in the coming months to celebrate and honor the memories of Chris’s life.

Forever loved, always remembered.
