Claire Audrey Albright of Ocean Springs, MS died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the age of 74.
She was born in Pascagoula and was a graduate of Our Lady of Victories and a member of St. Alphonsus Church in Ocean Springs. She earned a A.A. degree in Human Services from MGCCC and a B.S. from William Carey College. After completing her degrees she began working as a Case Worker at the Human Services Department in Biloxi, MS. She worked with the Jackson County Literacy Council, a United Way Agency as Executive Director. She was dedicated to the promotion of literacy and enjoyed meeting many people from different walks of life. Claire served as President of both PWP (Parents without Partners) and ABWA (American Business Women’s Association).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Edward Albright; her parents, Bennie Samuel West and Louise Corrine Mansfield West; Her siblings, Numa West, Bernadette Clifton, Valence Horner, Bennie J. West, Lynn West, Bernard West, William Richard West and Helen Fazekas.
Her survivors include her sister, Marie Boren of Meridian, MS and her children, Karen del Pino of Magnolia TX, Keith Albright Jr. of Newton, MS, Karl Albright of Vancleave, MS, Kenneth Albright (Sandy) of Pearlington, MS and Kristopher Albright (Mona) of Elmore, AL. She was a loving Grandmother to nine grandchildren including Jessica Albright (Odd Djuve), Terri Albright, Emilia Parsons (Andrew), Gaston A. del Pino, Kali Albright, Kati Albright, Penelope Stanhope (Caleb), Chloe Albright, and Thomas Albright.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Ocean Springs where friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, 400 Veterans Avenue, Biloxi, MS.
Due to cemetery restrictions the family asks those who wish to remember Claire in a special way, make a donation in her name to Jackson County Literacy Council (1713 Kenneth Avenue, Pascagoula, MS 39567) in lieu of flowers.
