Biloxi

Clarence Allen “Kasy” King, 76, of Biloxi, MS passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024at his home after battles with cancer, 70 years as a type one diabetic and heart issues.

Born August 19, 1947 in Covington City, VA, he was the son of Clarence Cornelius King, Jr. and Elsie Kathleen Hamilton King. Kasy graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Chemistry, MS in Surface Chemistry, 1971 and PhD in Paper Science from the Institute of Paper Chemistry. His first position was at James River as Manager of Technology, followed by Manager - Pulp and Paper Technology at Appleton Papers, Appleton, WI. After retirement in 2000 he developed Papermaking Process Consulting.

Kasy held strong participation in two papermaking organizations: TAPPI and PIMA for more than 33 years. Serving on committees, presenting papers, conference presentations and the like. He was also a member of the Editorial Boards for TAPPI Journal and Solutions Magazine. He wrote and published more than 54 papers and was also an instructor for short courses and seminars. In 2008 he was selected as one of TAPPI Fellow, an honor he was quite honored with. Kasy also co-authored a book, "Cost Saving Strategies in Papermaking Chemistry" with Martin A Hubbe.

Honored to be a proud "Hokie" fan and Green Bay Packer fan, he loved sailing along with his non-sailboat 27-foot Sea Sport. Model trains and collecting lighthouses were also hobbies. He wrote devotions for the Methodist RV group called Nomads for a number of years. Kasy was highly involved in church services and committees, sharing his love of God throughout all the churches we attended while on our RV living and travels over the years along with our charitable organizations. This is one great country!

He was preceded in death by his parents. Kasy is survived by his wife, Kathy King which he married in 2000.

There will be no services as requested by Kasy. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made in Kasy’s memory to the American Diabetes Association.
