Claude Sykes Haney, Jr., 81 of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on July 16, 2024.
He was born on December 28, 1942 in Aberdeen, MS to Claude and Allie Haney. He graduated from Oxford High School and attended Ole Miss. He was awarded the Eagle Scout, and the city of D’Iberville named a section of central avenue “Haney Way” in recognition of his contributions to the community. He owned and operated Haney’s Pawn Shop from 1982 until his passing. Sykes was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his business and friends he made in the community. He loved football, baseball, fishing, gardening, and growing tomato plants. He will be greatly missed.
Claude was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Allie Haney; children, Brian Michael Killcullen Haney and Aaron Perry Haney; sister, Grace Knolton.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Pam Haney; children, Cary Sykes Haney and Vicki Highfield; grandchildren, Chandler Sykes Haney, Abigail Haney, and Shelby Highfield; niece Joy (Keith) McDaniel; daughter-in-law, Tiffany Haney; and his cat, Merv.
A funeral service will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs. Friends may visit from 5:00pm until service time.
