Coleman Wilson Jr., born March 31, 1944, in Gulfport, Mississippi, peacefully departed this life on March 17, 2026. He was the beloved son of the late Coleman Wilson “Louis” and Lucille Wilson, and the youngest of four children, along with two stepbrothers and two stepsisters. A lifelong resident of Gulfport, Coleman spent much of his years in the Magnolia Grove community, where he became a well-known, respected, and deeply cherished presence.

Coleman embodied quiet strength, resilience, and genuine compassion. Though he often presented a firm and sometimes stern exterior, those closest to him knew him as a man with a generous and kind heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, giving selflessly and putting others before himself. His wisdom, protective spirit, and calming presence left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. Coleman worked as a dedicated longshoreman at the Gulfport pier, where he built a strong career before retiring. He also possessed a natural entrepreneurial spirit, with a unique ability to turn ideas into opportunities.

Family was at the center of Coleman’s life. He was a loving and devoted husband, a proud father, a caring grandfather, and a treasured great-grandfather. His greatest joy came from watching his family grow and succeed. His love was unwavering, his guidance steadfast, and his legacy lives on through the many lives he influenced.

Coleman leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Mae Baylis; his children, Steven White (Luisa White), Byron Wilson (Olivia Wilson), and Janara Baylis; along with a large and loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren include Denzel Luckett, Sakile White, Jabari Baylis, Jamon Baylis, Destiny Ervin, Tobias White, Ayana White-Wilson, and Malik Wilson. His great-grandchildren include Makayla Baylis, Jediah Baylis, Jayden Baylis, Ariyah Baylis, Zuri Baylis, Denzel Luckett Jr., Ja’Zari Luckett, Legend Luckett, Rashaun Gayle Jr., Samariah Gayle, Kamira Gayle, Jaceyon White, and Islay White. He is also survived by his stepbrothers, Lonnie Wilson, and Gregory Wilson; his stepsisters, Betty Wilson, and Bertha Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Coleman was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Wilson, and Coleman Wilson “Louis”; his sister, Josephine Wilson; his brothers, Tom Wilson, and Eugene Wilson; his grandchild, Grace White; and his great-grandchild, Javon White.

Coleman’s life was a testament to perseverance, love, and enduring strength. Though he is no longer physically present, his spirit continues to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. The lessons he shared, the love he gave, and the memories he created will continue to provide comfort and guidance for generations to come. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love, support and condolences shared.
