Consorcia “Susie” Loftin was born on October 4, 1928, in Minalin, Pampanga, Philippines, to the late Manuel and Gregoria Lagman. She met the love of her life, Jim H. Loftin, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force and stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. Their meeting blossomed into a lifelong love, and they were married on November 20, 1964.
Susie attended Far Eastern University, where she earned her high school diploma, and later continued her education at USON, receiving a degree in Education. She began her career teaching third and fourth grade before transitioning to a role as an Administrative Assistant at Clark Air Base, where she met her beloved husband. After moving to the United States, Susie worked as a secretary for Mohawk Airlines in Rome, New York, where she managed pilot schedules. She later relocated to Los Angeles, where she held multiple jobs before establishing a long and dedicated career as an Office Manager at Electronic Services in Gulfport. A savvy and capable businesswoman, Susie and Jim also owned and managed trailer parks, rental properties, and a public storage business. She was very proud of these accomplishments!
Susie and Jim were longtime members of the Shriners Club, where they enjoyed fellowship, participated in social events, and supported fundraising efforts. Susie was an active member of the Mardi Gras Court on several occasions and was honored as Queen. She took great joy in riding on floats in her elaborate costumes, waving to crowds, and tossing beads to spectators along the streets of New Orleans.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Gregoria Lagman; her sisters, Purificacion Cunanan, Restituta Anicete, Luz Gonzales, Lolita Sarmiento, Sol Laxamana, Pacita Banez, and Myrna Sumbillo; and her brother, Juan Lagman.
She is survived by her brother, Angel Yabut and her daughter, Catherine O’Brien; and many beloved nieces and nephews, most of whom were blessed in some shape or form by her resources.
Susie will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, and kind-hearted spirit. She had a deep love for her family, her neighbors, and friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.
