Craig Christopher Fountain

Craig Christopher Fountain of Ocean Springs passed from this life on May 14, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer and COPD. He was the third of nine children born to Henry F. “Buddy” Fountain and Gloria Swetman Fountain.

Craig was a master carpenter, avid fisherman, talented photographer, and exceptional cook. He especially enjoyed long fishing trips to the Chandelier Islands and surrounding waters with his great friends, Don Whitman and Jack Brink. Known for his skill in the kitchen, Craig loved preparing all types of cuisine and was particularly famous for his baking — especially his beloved key lime pie.

Craig found peace in his daily early morning walks along Fontainebleau and East Beaches, where he captured breathtaking photographs of sunrises and local wildlife. In his younger years, he enjoyed surfing and was fortunate to pursue that passion in both California and Hawaii.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, H.F. “Buddy” Fountain and Gloria Fountain, and his brothers, Sean and Taylor Fountain.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dixie; his children, Nija Diaz (Joey), Holly Letort (Ryan), and Seth Fountain; stepchildren, William Jeffrey Maxey, Jerry Lee Maxey, and Lauren Stiles (Kevin); sisters, Valri Crosby (Ron), Kim Kennedy, Dama Fountain, Wendy O’Connor, Kelly Fountain, and Lori Clark (Jeffrey). He is also survived by five grandchildren, along with many nephews, nieces, and seven great-nieces and great-nephews who loved him dearly.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior.
