Cynthia Ann Johnston Ladnier

November 1, 1958 — October 1, 2025

Biloxi

If you ever saw a little glitter on the floor, a Mickey Mouse ear headband tucked in a suitcase, or a cake so perfect it belonged in a bakery window, chances are, Cindy Ladnier was nearby.

Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Johnston Ladnier, 66, of Biloxi, Mississippi, left this world peacefully surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and light.

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 1, 1958, Cindy grew up in Chalmette before her family settled in Biloxi. As a teenager, she met Robert “Bob” Ladnier Sr., the love of her life. What began as young love became an unbreakable marriage of 47 years - a lifetime filled with devotion, laughter, and the kind of steadfast partnership most people only dream about.

Cindy dedicated her life to caring for others. For more than 40 years at Catholic Charities, she poured her heart into the senior residents of Villa Maria, treating every one of them like family. She gave dignity, compassion, and joy where it was most needed, and in return, she was loved deeply.

Her generosity was as boundless as her spirit - whether it was opening her door, sharing a meal, or offering a shoulder, Cindy made sure everyone felt seen, loved, and welcomed as if they belonged to her own family.

But Cindy’s greatest joy was her own family. She was the best chef, the most talented baker, the keeper of wisdom, and the glue that held everyone together. She believed in bright colors, sparkly shoes, big hugs, and celebrations worth remembering. She was a woman of faith, grace, and delight - with a heart as big as her smile that made everyone feel welcome.

Cindy is preceded in death by her father, Edwin Preston Johnston Jr.; her mother, Joan Doize Johnston; her brother, James Joseph Johnston; and many beloved relatives she is now joyfully reunited with.

Her bright light continues through her husband, Robert “Bob” Ladnier Sr.; her daughter, A’lice Ann Wade (Chuck); her son, Robert Joseph Ladnier Jr.; grandson, Gavin Wade; her brother, Preston Johnston (Nancy); her sister, Leonie Johnston; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who fiercely adored her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to Cindy’s heart because of her love for all her “dawlins.”
