Reverend Daniel William Hayes, 79, of Ocean Springs, MS passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2025.
Dan was born in Monroe, MI in 1946 and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war as a Navy seal and received 2 purple hearts. He married Sharon in 1967 and began his family while working in construction. He eventually co-owned a construction business in Brandon, FL. He was later called by the Lord into full time ministry pastoring in Florida, Mississippi and Georgia. While in Mississippi, he founded Crossroads Church of the Nazarene in Ocean Springs. He retired after 32 years of pastoral service and returned to Ocean Springs.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven E. Hayes; parents, Paul and Dorothy Hayes; two sisters, Nancy Grimes and Jill Hayes; and brother, David Hayes.
Dan is survived by his wife, Sharon I. Hayes; sons, Justin (Stephanie) Hayes and Matthew (Laura) Hayes; sisters, Karen (Ed) Spangler and Paula Parrot; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Dan’s memory to Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, children’s/youth’s department, 6150 Firestone St., Ocean Springs, MS.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, Ocean Springs. Friends may visit one hour prior. Dr. Jeffery Spangler and Reverend Steve Pennington will be officiating the service.
